Mickey Hart has produced in excess of 30 albums of World Music.  Many he recorded himself, ranging from Baba Olantunji to the Latvian Women’s Choir to the Gyuto Monks.  Others he curated from the archives of the Library of Congress.  He has recently handed over 25 of these albums to be maintained and distributed by the Smithsonian Institute’s Folkways division.  This is Mickey’s introduction to the collection.  I shot interviews with Mickey and Zakir Hussain, and edited the video and audio from a variety of different sources, from VHS to 1” videotapes.
